Results day… every school leavers nightmare. 1 year on from my results day and here I am. Sat in the HR department for a global company. Never would I of thought I’d be sat here enjoying every moment of my apprenticeship and working alongside some amazing people. I remember waking up on results day not really knowing what to expect or feel, I was never the A* student.

Throughout teachers would tell you these results will affect your whole life, they will decide where you go. But was that really true?

I didn’t get the results I hoped for. College, I couldn’t do the courses I wanted to do. However, I passed 10 out of 13 GCSE I had spent 5 years working for, some may not have been what I wanted but I still had 10 GCSEs. I re-picked my college options there was still courses I could do.

In the meantime, I applied for some apprenticeships and I got an interview. I thought I would be limited because of my GSCEs, but instead, I was filled with confidence, hope, and direction. I got the HR & Recruitment apprenticeship and started studying level 2 business admin and I re-sat my exams  and I passed them.

1 year one on, I am sat in an HR department doing a job I love, gaining experience, skills, and knowledge every day. My GCSEs didn’t limit me, they didn’t control my life because I didn’t let them. Now I am at the end of studying level 2 business admin NVQ with hopes to start my Level 3 CIPD in 2017.
